To go from good to great requires transcending the curse of competence.
Many people have been pulled or have fallen into careers where they can never attain complete mastery and fulfillment. That accounts for the low job satisfaction among workers in various sectors.
Unbeknownst to many, being good at something does not mean that you are the best at it.
In layman terms, even if you consistently score an A in a certain subject, it could only mean that you are good at it, not great at it!
We are often fooled that if we are good in Mathematics, we will do well in Accountancy.
If we are good in Biology, we can be doctors.
If we are good in Economics, we can be economists.
This a very common misconception. But in actual fact, most of us know that? How do you tell? Well, remember the times when you feel at loss? When you are insecure about your future? Worry about prospects?
But most of us seek the easier way out. We find a stable and secure job and we settle for it. So long as the pay is reasonable, we are cool with it. It does not matter if we are great at it. We settle for good.
That is why good is the greatest enemy of great. The majority will seek a secure life rather than a precarious one.
To go from Good to Great requires not only talent but immense courage.
Do you have what it takes to move from Good to Great?
