AT&T Shares iPhone

Previously, the iPhone can only be operated on a GSM network but everything is going to change soon. In the future, the iPhone will be able to be operated on a CDMA network used on Verizon as well.

With the leverage provided, the prerogative of AT&T is ending. Soon, Verizon will join in the gladiator fight and we will see some fierce and intense competition between the both of them once again.

AT&T and Verizon are de facto competitors with a symbiosis relationship rather than destructive one. They help each other improve their products, their lines, their collaborators and their price policies as well.

A while back, we see AT&T lowering their price plans to encourage people to sign up for their data plans and immediately, you see Verizon following suit.

They keep up with the trend by following not just the market, but tagging close to their competitor. From this case, we can see the epitome of competitiveness, to never let your competitor lose your sight.

That is the key of business. They are a great source of benchmark for you to keep yourself updated.

Nonetheless, we should not always be dependent on them for news or we will be lagging behind and there will be little chances of our own breakthrough. Of course, we should go more into Research and Development now which is a hot field.

Look at neuromarketing, and the fact that people are improving their price plans goes to show that they are focussing on the importance of data plans

Why is data plans so important ? Well, simply put, an increasing number of people are surfing the net via their handphones and smartphones rather than on the net. We are constantly on the move now and at the same time, we need to be updated. So where do we get the news from? From our smartphones of course.

Equipped with the latest technology, iPhone has thousands of applications for you to enjoy both in terms of play and work.

Hence, AT&T might not really lose even though Verizon has gotten the rights to allow the iPhone to work on their network.

In fact, I believe that it will benefit AT&T more than ever. Afterall, being a sole distributor is insidious, for it will stultify you before you know it!

Dow Jones down by 1000 points !?!?!

Investors are rattled after technical glitches in the trading of Procter & Gamble (PG, Fortune 500) stock led to a nearly 1,000-point drop on the blue-chip Dow Jones industrial average.

The plunge of 998 points was the Dow's biggest one-day point decline on an intraday basis.

The sharp and rapid drop late in the trading day Thursday triggered a wider selloff on Wall Street. However, stocks managed to pared most of those losses.

The erratic trading on Wall Street on Thursday only exacerbated nervousness among investors, who have been on edge the past few weeks amid growing concerns that debt woes in Europe will slow down the global economic recovery.

Seriously !?!? This incident just goes to show that nothing is impossible in the world today.

I mean, ludicrous incidents just tag after one another. Troubles attract more troubles and even more troubles. They just seem to be perpetual in nature.

I mean, till now, they cannot even ratify if the 39% plummet of the P&G stocks was due to a technical glitch or what because apparently the fall in prices was witnessed on the electronic displays. Hence, they trust that it is nevertheless, still accurate.

How fatuous can they get? I mean, why would P&G's stocks plummet by 39% when it is making a huge profit and having a stable revenue with no debts issues? It's just simply way too far fetch to assume that it is possible for the stock to fall by 39%.

To me, it is flagrant that the system has either been hacked or it has collapsed momentarily. Otherwise, there's simply no reason as to why P&G's stock can rebounce back to near its original price in such a short time.

Furthermore, P&G was not alone, Apple too fell by 22%. 3M fell 21.5%. And Accenture fell from $40.13 all the way to just a mere 1 cent. 1 cent !?!?!?!? I mean how is that actually possible ?

Rather than clearing it up, the authorities and the experts still refuse to pass a quick judgement that everything was just due to a technical glitch and in turn they caused a tumult in the shares market.

This resulted in a quick selloff of the Dow Jones and everyone continue to be in a panic frenzy. Typical civilians will think that the world economy is going to collapse because they are apprehensive about today's fluctuating global economy that is inevitably linked to one another.

If the Greek's economy were to refuse the saving package that is ever so relentless, it will collapse for sure and for the world to save it again, will be extremely arduous.

The situation has already been worsening day by day because of the paucity of backup plans and resource reserves.

And now, the Dow Jones plummet by 1000 points, it is no wonder the citizens are hurrying for a quick selloff.

Perhaps, this is actually a great and perfect opportunity to exploit the market for we can actually purchase the Dow Jones for an all time low price.

Well, it might be a god's gift for all we know!

China ROARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

China is really coming out strong in this century.

Let me summarise what it has done thus far.

Remember 6 years ago? Where Lenovo bought over IBM's personal computer business? Then now you have Geely's latest acquisition of Volvo from Ford Motor for a whopping $1.8 billion.

It has emerged as the biggest automobile market today and it is officially the biggest exporter in the entire world right now. Even till today, it is still relentless in its trade, trying ever-so-hard to maintain its low currency in an effort to support its exports. However, due to the tremendous pressure piled upon them by the United States and heavy scrutinization from the world, China has no choice but to capitulate this time.

However, they are not going to let it float by itself, rather they will probably adopt a controlled float market approach.

Also, it is an upcoming player in the Merger and Acquisition market as well. Look at the number of mergers and acquisitions it has made thus far.

Other than that, China is also investing heavily on natural resources like oil in Africa, copper in Peru and many more. Most of their deals are apparently done in developing countries. Well that's pretty logical isn't it ? I mean the production costs in these countries are bound to be low and these are the places where the resources are present in abundance!

In terms of financial strength, they are unstoppable. They are already on the verge of overtaking Japan as the 2nd largest economy and soon  United States will be replaced by China as well.

And if you think they are awesome, wait till you wait another 10 years more. Afterall, China has only reopened the economy to the world for a mere 30 years.

Just look at the country's global clout right now! It's overwhelming and many are in awe of it. They are the Lady Gaga of the economy. Famous and unbeatable.

Things just keep going their way, their accrual growth is phenomenol and this is most likely going to be sustainable for quite some time.

The good news is, we are going to expect a lot more drama from China in the upcoming years. So stay tune and enjoy all the fun while you still can!

Liar Game

Have you guys heard of this comic "Liar Game"?

It's a strategic manga that is full of surprises and mysteries and of course top-notch intelligence.

It is an impeccable manga so to speak. There are a copious amount of psychology concepts in it. So feel free to go read about it when you have the chance.

In the mean time, I will discuss about one of their concepts here, which I'm 100% sure that every single one of you out there is a victim of.

People are naturally more cautious when they are around people who they deemed to be untrustworthy.

Imagine this scenario.

A small, isolated village up the mountain will most likely treat a visiting outsider with suspicion.

Not easy to relate to right? It's okay, let me put it in simpler terms.

Imagine that you are not happy with what you wear today and that you feel sucky about it.

Then, come along a group of girls and suddenly they looked at you and they start to laugh away, and somehow you hear them talking about clothes but then again, you are not completely sure of it.

Immediately, you will start to feel uncomfortable and you will instantly feel that they are actually talking about you. You will be second-guessing yourself.

This will be especially prominent when you hear them talking about something which you are extremely sensitive to, possibly your weakness.

Let me give you another example, let say you are guilty of your body or your looks.

Then you hear people giggling at one corner and stealing looks at you randomly. I'm sure instantly you will be thinking to yourself, are they laughing at my looks or hair? Or my dressing? Or are they talking bad about me?

You get all paranoid when in actual fact, they are not even talking about you at all!

This is the power of psychology.

To mislead people and to exploit their trust and insecurity.

This is just the tip of the iceberg of psychology and Liar game.

Do go and read it if you are interested.

There are alot more mysteries in there.

Pledge

Okay Nuffnang is a part of this event called the National Famly Celebrations 2010 and I will like to take this precious opportunity to make a pledge to my dedicated parents.

Here it goes.

I pledge to go out with my family more often.

Why is that so? Well, to be honest, it was really a wake up call for me when I heard that Nuffnang is actually giving out 700 tickets to the various attractions in Singapore.

It makes me think when was the last time= I actually went out together with my family to enjoy ourselves. Unfortunately, it was all a blur. I couldn't remember.

I can't even recall when was our last outing. It might be nothing to alot of us here for we all prefer to go out with friends nowadays because we can all relate to each other. When it comes to going out with your family for a trip, everything just becomes frustrating and tiring.

This includes our different interests, our dining locations, the things we do when we are out. Everything seems to be colliding into one another and we end up going separate ways eventually. But doesn't that defeat the purpose of a family outing if we are all doing our own shopping?

So how am I going to ensure that a family outing is coming my way? Well, I think Sundays are the perfect timing for a simple outing for my entire family will be free and just a simple meal out will be perfect.

A trip to the Singapore Flyer will be the awesome because my family is basically very thrifty. They will not bear to go to attractions like the Singapore Flyer or the Sentosa Resorts for they are very conscious about money. Not that they are money-minded, but because of the fact that they are actually saving up for my future expenses, i.e. the exorbitant University school fees.

I do not wish to devoid them of the opportunity to experience the various enticing activities out there, for I believe that they more than deserve the chance to enjoy than anyone else in the world. They have been working so hard and me and my brother have not been treasuring their little effort till today.

I have always been taking them for granted and I always blame them for being stingy and stuff but I'm deeply apologetic and guilty now.

Hence, I'm going to make a commitment here, and that is to go out more often with them. They have always been talking about the Sentosa Resort World lately and I guess that will most probably be the apposite location for me to bring them to.

Yeah, so thank you Nuffnang for making me realise how selfish and insensitive I've been all these years. But, then again, it's never too late to repay your parents' favour, start now, don't wait anymore before you regret it!

NATIONAL FAMILY CELEBRATIONS 2010 (NFC 2010)

HP Sensors

Imagine you could know about an earthquake 10 seconds before you felt the ground shake—or figure out that a bridge was in danger of collapsing before it took commuters along with it. That’s the promise behind one of the newest products coming out of Hewlett-Packard’s (HPQ) labs. By installing a trillion tiny sensors to collect data about the world around us, HP is quite literally trying to build a central nervous system for the earth–a product they call the CeNSE network. This could be a big business: HP will first deploy CeNSE to help Shell (RDSA) drill for oil.

Imagine if this could help them pinpoint the location of oil reserves beneath the ground. It is brobdingnagian. It's unbelievable. Right now, the biggest oil corporations are just scanning the entire area rather than zooming in on a single spot with the help of the current technology.

The reason is simple, it is because by using the current technology, there is a high propensity that you will miss out on quite a number of oil reserves simply because they are too small or they are deep underground which allows them to circumvent detection.

Nonetheless, it is always better to zoom in on a small area of course. This will help the oil corporation save tonnes of money. If they were to drill an entire area, almost 2/3 of it will be empty and only 1/3 of it will be filled with oil. Imagine if they can save the cost needed to drill the 2/3 of the waste land, and convert the savings to consumers' savings, they can easily double or triple their earnings within a short period of time.

Of course, this new sensor has no promises yet. It is still de facto undergoing experimentation and of course the research and development cost is extremely exorbitant which is why, only Shell can afford to participate in the experimentation stage right now.

Here's how it works: Thousands of these sensors, which HP hopes to shrink down to the size of a pin, will be peppered over the area to be monitored. Tiny radio transmitters, which wirelessly send out a constant and massive amount of data, are bundled with them. Specially programmed computers look for patterns and flag critical information about, say, activity along a fault line or unusual movements on the pillar of a bridge.

Well, let's just sit back and watch how this technology develops and whether it is really that effective when it comes to the spotting of trends and anomalies.

Pratt & Whitney PW1000G

Pratt & Whitney is the new manufacturer in the house when it comes to engines.

It is a new revolutionary leader in the making aircraft engines today. Many airplane makers are flocking to this company named Pratt & Whitney. I wouldn't call it an overnight fame for Pratt & Whitney has been in the industry for a very long time. In fact, it has spent decades just by revamping this fabulous engine of theirs.

Right now, it's PW1000G engine is touted as the ne plus ultra of the aircraft engines.

Four decades ago, Pratt & Whitney dominated the jet-engine market with sales of its JT8 family of engines, still used on about a third of the world's commercial fleet, according to data from flightsupport.com.

This will only its competitor General Electric, under more duress. Right now, General Electric will definitely have to step up its game or it will be abandoned by many aircraft makers for Pratt & Whitney is definitely going all out on this revolutionary engine.

Pratt & Whitney said its engine could fit on either the Boeing 737 or AirBusA320 and still provide the same benefits of fuel efficiency and less noise, but couldn't speak specifically as to how it might impact the planes' design.

The key of their engines lies in the fact that its quieter and best of all, more fuel-efficient as highlighted above. As we all know, the quiet factor is actually insignificant as compared to its' functionality which maximises the use of fuel.

Right now, as always, the oil market is extremely volatile and oil prices are fluctuating all over the place. Such changes in price level of the oil will definitely have a huge impinge on companies which relies severely on oil.

One of the industries that is most impacted by the price changes is definitely the airline business for they consume a gargantuan amount of oil constantly.

Of course, this will mean that the airlines like Delta and British Airway are going to seek to buy aircrafts that helps them save energy and is more efficient when it comes to consumption of oil. This in turn, will help them save a lot of money which allows them to improve their profit margin. As a result, they will be able to translate some of these savings down to their customers and clients and naturally, it will increase their competitiveness as well.

So for aircraft makers, it is of pivotal to make one that is energy efficient because the energy industry is extremely bouyant right now. There has been a lot of hype surrounding the energy market right now. So all the players involved has to watch the market carefully. Of course, if an engine maker which can help them save energy efficient comes by, it will definitely be grabbed in a flash!

Mini mini games

Minigames.com

Ever heard of this website? The website we used to visit in the past to play stupid lame games? But at the end of the day, it helped us to de-stress and we end up having lots of fun.

But it died down as the time pass, why is that so?

1 reason: There's not enough new games. They come in infrequently and they always sucks.

As the time past, people are sick of the their new games, they lose confidence in them and have decided to abandon it altogether.

However, facebook and iPhone have both managed to revive the dead-old minigames.

They have revolutionized minigames altogether.

How else do you think facebook has managed to sustain itself? I hear from people that they are actually sick of facebook already.

They stare at random status messages, with the same old people posting the same old emo messages daily. It's kinda draining away all our energy when you see people getting upset and stuff. They are like black holes sucking up all your personality and energy.

But the difference is that there's Mafia Wars, Farmsville, Restaurant City, Sushi Bar and of course the all time favourite Mouse Hunter.

Then let's take a diversion towards iPhone.

I'm sure that I do not have to say much about it when it comes to the myriad amount of applications it possesses. There are too many and the best part is that the number will just keep increasing by many, many folds in the years to come.

It's incessant.

In fact, I will have to say that iPhone is the ne plus ultra of mobile phones. Do you notice the way people use their phones?

1. To call.

2. To SMS.

3. To check facebook, windows live messenger, twitter and emails.

Only a small group of the public actually use it for business purposes. But, how often do you actually witness people opening up Microsoft programmes on their phones ? Very seldom I would have to say, I mean people have their laptops to do that. Why would they stare into a small screen just to write an essay?

So what do we use our phones for? Well, when we are bored.

When we have absolutely nothing to do, we will take out our phones. When we are bored by the people around us, we take out our phones. When we are alone, we take out our phones.

At least, that's what I always do. Do you?

But the problem is this, once you are done checking whether you have any incoming SMSes, emails, facebook updates, you are practically left with nothing to do!

However, thank god, that's a problem of the past. Now, with the iPhone, you can actually play some brainless yet enticing games alone, or with a friend, it is even possible with many friends.

Aside from that, new games just keep popping up all the time. The craze just keeps going and it's perpetual.

Once you are bored of it, another new game pops up and everyone starts to download it and it becomes the talk of the day.

That's the power of facebook and iPhone.

They made use of ever-green new mini games to keep their users addicted, so that they will never be bored of the device per se.

Just an interesting fact I thought of as I was running through my own thoughts.

How do you feel about that?

Do tag your opinions :)
