Facebook's Mark Zuckerberg Listens too

Facebook is overhauling privacy controls in the face of a barrage of criticism that it is betraying the trust which has made it the world's biggest social network.

"It's been a pretty intense few weeks for us, listening to all the feedback coming in from all the changes we've made," Facebook's 26-year-old founder Mark Zuckerberg said Wednesday as he announced simplified privacy controls.

"Now we are making it so there is less information that has to be public. People want a simple way to control the way information is shared with third parties, so that is what we are doing," he said.

"We really do believe in privacy and giving people control," he said. "There is a balance and more and more people want to share information as long as they have good controls over that."

"We are making the changes because we think there is a right thing to do," he said. "We listened to the feedback and we agree with it."

Hmmm... that's a well said speech by the CEO of Facebook Mark Zuckerberg. I thought we should really give credits to him and his team for all the hard work during the past few weeks.

Facebook has been under much scrutiny around the world whereby it was criticised and upbraided for its weak privacy control systems, causing certain information to be leaked to the 3rd parties websites and applications.

However, the most crucial part here about the overhaul is not what Mark has done. Rather, to me, what is the essence of this overhaul is that it comes from the feedback of the public, that Mark is really listening to the needs of the public. I'm pretty sure that everyone is glad that Mark is actually listening. It really sucks to be ignored all the times, particularly when you are offering some constructive advice.

Initially, it was going to be a huge overhaul in the privacy settings control but the fractious public were infuriated by this. They were extremely displeased about the way facebook is changing. Immediately, Mark opted for an alternative, by making it less significant, and less cumbersome for the users.

He changed his approach altogether and redesigned the privacy control settings. I believe that the fans of facebook will be happier this way and from this experience, they will also come to trust that Mark will continue to listen to them.

In turn, they will continue to send their feedbacks about facebook incessantly because they know that someone as high up as Mark is actually listening to their voices.

This comes both way. You need someone to listen and more important, you need someone to be giving the feedbacks. If you do not listen, naturally people stop giving you their feedbacks as they find it futile and pointless. Now that Mark has regained the trust of its consumers, I believe that Facebook might just be going for a new turning point, bit by bit. A breakthrough might come soon if Mark continues to listen and make changes to facebook consistently, for the better.

Maserati, the brand I relish

The brand I relish, indeed!

Maserati is just filled with prestige and much encomiums from the floor. It's simply an incandescent masterpiece.

The stylish black layout of the car blows everyone's mind off the track. It's ineffable. I'm completely speechless.

I'm hoping that they will introduce a new line of fashion clothings under Maserati. It could just be the brand standing beside Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Michael Kors and etc.

Maserati, the palatial brand that is touted by all.

Boeing's sustainability

Boeing Co.'s decision to raise production for its next-generation 737 jet, to a rate of 34 a month by 2012, represents a cautious move that will give suppliers time to prepare for further increases while also providing a cushion against any additional economic upheaval, analysts said Tuesday.

"Even through the global economic downturn, our diverse 737 backlog has remained very strong," said Jim Albaugh, CEO of Boeing Commercial Airplanes, in a statement. "Increasing the 737 production rate is the right thing to do to meet the growth and fleet replacement needs of our customers."

Indeed, a year back, we can flagrantly see that the airline industry was indeed lacklustre! It was pathetic actually. Everyday, we see airline stocks dropping. The industry was emasculated by a mile. It was practically following the prices of oil. Once the price of oil rises, the stocks of airline industries plummeted.

Such volatility was hated by all. The airline industries try to eschew from these fluctuations but they could not. It was all in vain.

However, it's a whole new different story today. We see the revival of the airline industries. Competition are back, and its stiffer than ever before. The animosity between them are palpable as well. You see various airlines introducing various packages to fend off their respective competitors and you see some of them forming up alliance with one another.

A panoply of moves are displayed right now but who is right? To fight alone or to fight as a team? Both ways work but it really depends on how they battle it to the death at the end of the day.

It's all about sustainability in this industry. Right now, they are looking the new engine made by Pratt & Whitney. It's the new craze in the industry whereby it can enable airlines to save more energy, plus it's lighter so it will not burn off lots of fuel as it flies.

Lots of new stuff coming up in this new age and don't be surprised to see more chaos in the future, i.e. the recent Britist Airways riot.

We have alot to witness in the future.

Presenting the new HTC Desire.

Presenting the touted HTC Desire.

HTC Desire delivers intense brilliance, sharp contrast, and true colors on the expansive 3.7-inch AMOLED display. The 1 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor makes the phone incredibly responsive as you multitask from app to app without skipping a beat, while the instinctive HTC Sense experience lets you wield the power of the HTC Desire with the greatest of ease.

HTC Desire offers an expansive display, a blazing-fast processor, and a great interface. On top of that, it has a lot of little design touches that make a big impact on your overall phone experience: like the new 'Leap' thumbnail view that lets you easily jump to any of the seven panels on your Home screen, or the polite ringer that lowers the ringer volume when you pick up the phone.

Your work email, calendar appointments, and contacts, are right there on your phone - you can even look up any company contact in the global address book. The HTC Desire also has enhanced support for Exchange security features such as password protection and remote data wipe. And, if you forget to tell your colleagues that you are taking the much needed day off, you can set the ‘Out of Office’ status right from your phone.

Vestiges of my 21st

Photos from my friend, Samuel's camera.

Apple destroys Microsoft

On Wednesday, Apple's market capitalization edged past its longtime rival's as investors made official what consumers have long suggested: Microsoft is no longer the industry's alpha dog.

Part of Microsoft's problem is that, instead of finding its own audience, it has fallen into a game of catch-up and is focusing too much energy on finding products to directly rival Apple's, said Kay.

"I don't know if they have to compete," he said. "What seems to be working for Microsoft is its serious applications for businesses, education institutions and other enterprises, and if they stay focused on their commercial business that gives them a lot."

Once again, we see that even gargantuan companies like Microsoft has not been spared from the vicious elimination in the game of the "Survival of the Fittest".

Once known to be the brand and the operating software of the Universe, it has now fallen and sales have plummeted since then.

Microsoft has been chasing after the latest craze and fads and that has apparently caused them to lose their way. They are no longer as focused as they were in the past. Rather than focusing on their next step, they follow someone else's next step. And that has caused to be a step behind every single time!

Instead, I believe that they should continue to move on with their operating system, simply by listening to the mass public and continue to innovate consistently without fail to keep their customers intact.

Apparently, right now, that is absolutely not the case as Microsoft is entering into new forays like music players and tablet players. Absurb isn't it ?
